ok i have 2 9800 GTX+ gpus (evga)
i have the evga 790i Ultra SLI FTW mobo
it has 3 pci express 2.0 slots

my question is
my mother board came with two SLI bridges
one of them has the connectors for 3 video cards
the other one is the old fashioned one that has only 1 connector for each gpu

ok ill make a diagram so u can understand better
actually my next two posts will be pictures of the bridge that i have

i am wondering which bridge to use

()ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo()

thats the first bridge

here is the second sli bridge connector

()oooooooooo()ooooooooooooo()
()oooooooooo()ooooooooooooo()

my GPUs have look like this

which connector do i use
the one with 6 for tri sli or the one that leaves 2 slots blank... 1 on each gpu

I just checked - that's covered in my MOBO owners manual. You might want to pull yours out - My Gigabyte has a section in Ch1 - dedicated to N-Vidia SLI / ATI Crossfire configuration.

You should check your Owners manual - but from your rough outline - and looking at my Manual - it looks like this one was the proper choice

If you can't find your manual - most are available online for download in .pdf format.

i checked my mobo manual... and found nothing kind of angers me considering how much i spent on it

right now i am using the []ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo[] connector with 1 slot blank on each gpu... but i have the other connector

my pc seems to be running slower graphics wise actually it is so i am kind of like what is going on here i was hoping this 2nd card would dominate

gigabyte MOBO manual said:
enable the SLI function using the nVidia control panel

Browse to SLI & Physx configuration screen. Ensure that SLI and Physx are enabled

What's your MOBO make / model?

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33 ghz
6 GB Triple Channel Kingston DDR3 1333 RAM
2 X EVGA Nvidia GTX 9800+ (SLI)
Cooler Master CM 690 ATX Tower
Corsair 850W PSU
2 X Western Digital 500GB Caviar Black

So which is it? An "Ultra" or a "FTW", because I see no "Ultra FTW".

Do you get any post codes?

Use the one meant for a dual sli setup, the other one is meant for use with a triple card setup.
