can someone give me some specs on this or tell me which setup would be better. I am ordering my computer tomorrow and need to know which would be more powerful.

well basically Im building the fastest computer for 3000 dollars. Im goin with the Q9450 processor, 4 gb ddr3 ram and probably those two gx2's. How do the 9800 gx2's in sli run on crysis??

It should run without problems.

However, a Q9450 will suffer those in SLI. You'll need something more along the lines of the QX9650 (i'm sure thats out of the question).

Get the Q6600 and overclock it, with good aftermarket cooling. That much GPU power will be suffered by a stock clock processor, yes even the QX9650. But one of those suckers overclocked to 4.0Ghz will unleash "most" of the cards power. :P

so whats the difference between the Q9450 and he Q6600. Im new to this stuff thats why a friend is building this for me. I am ordering the parts though.

The Q6450 is the newer chip, but they are not good overclockers. The Q6600 will more than likely get you a higher clock. And with that much GPU power, you'll need the most out of your CPU you can get.

Save a couple of hundred and buy yourself DDR2 instead. There's barely any performance difference for DDR3 to DDR2.

Don't forget, he may need windows as well..

But like i said, you'll ned atleast a heavy overclocked Q6600. You can get the Q9450, but its not going to give the clocks a Q6600 will.

Get the Q6700... it overclocks just as well as the Q6600 but has a 10x multiplier. Which means higher overall speed.
