9800gx2 or gtx 260, also a question about manufacturers.

Hi there, as the title suggests, I was wondering, which is better taking price and performance into consideration, the 9800gx2 or the 260. I will probably get the better performing card if the price doesn't far exceed the performance.

My other question was, how much does the manufacturer matter, I mean. If we have 2 identical GPUS, say 8800GT's but one card is from Asus and one is from Gigabyte. How much of a theotetical difference could there be?
My options are Asus (which is probably my favourite brand) and XFX for video cards. Are they both good, and what are your opinions on them?

I'd go for the GTX260, simply because it's newer. It performs awesome, too.

I've heard of many people having problems with the 9800GX2.

Same. On benchmarks the 260 performs better anyway. Its also newer. Not much of debate here.

Have you considered an ATI card?
