I am in the throws of building a new system to enable me to edit Blu Ray video and was thinking of getting a 9800gx2 card but with the new Radeon HD4870 card I'm now trying to decide which would be the better choice ( I'm also in NZ and the approx prices including GST ( aNZ General tax on all goods of 12.5%) are about $660 - $700 for the Gx2 and $375- $420 for the HD4870
allowing initially for the price difference I'm finding it hard to get my head around the fact that the Radeon 4870 with only 512 meg/ram is seemingly qiucker than the GX2 at 1 gig/ram. I would have thought that that any make of card that has 512 more megs would have an advantage of over those that has'nt in the processing stakes.How can that be'also to aquire the equivelent amount of ram in the 4870 department one would have to double up on the no of cards therefore doubling the amount of heat produced and also the final costing,approx $680 average for the GX2 to $795 averge for dual 4870s
