Here's an odd one. Just built a 9NPA+Ultra with an Athalon 64. System runs fine but when I shut it down (using Windows XP x64 Shutdown) the system will not power up again until I unplug the computer for approx. 10 seconds. I'm using a 300 watt 20 pin PSU. Any thoughts?
sounds like a dodgy power supply. try another if you can or put your current one in another PC... i had a similar problem with a crappy PSU once; the PC would just turn off and i would have to unplug it at the wall before i could restart it. if the PSU works ok on other systems i would reckon that you need a more powerful power supply
The power button is hooked up and working. Just can't power down and back up without removing the power. I'm wondering if it is the power supply as well. It was inexpensive, but well reviewed on newegg.com. The fit and finish were also very good.
Are you saying 12v @ 15amp is not enough? Sorry, but this is my first build so I'm not up on alot of this stuff. I know it was cheap PSU but the reviews overwhelming said it was the real deal. It even had SATA plugs which I understand is a bit unusual. Since price alone does not always indicate quality, what should have I looked for? The numbers indicated that the supply was 80% efficient which was higher than many "high end" PSU's. Seriously, I want to learn from the situation so I can choose better.
30 - 34 amps is considered a good psu , but if you find one that has 24-29amps cheap thats not bad etheir oo, and some psu's have dual +12 rails , so in that case just add up both of the +12 rails and ull get the total +12 amps read the PSU101
Basically we can only give you the minimum of that board and CPU, what will you be using the computer for maybe this would make a difference in a PSU selection.
I installed my new SeaSonic S12 330 and the computer behaves exactly the same. Powers up fine. Shutdown and the computer will not respond to the front power button until I turn the PSU off for 10 seconds. Turn the PSU back on, press the front power button, and it powers up again.
Make sure your power button/reset/sleep(standby) plugs are all connected the right way on the motherboard... that sounds to me like that what the problem is.
