A 5ms Viewsonic and a 2ms BENQ

I found these 2 at the mall for almost the same price.
I don't know much about LCDs, so can someone explain to me why is that ?
first thing I thought of.... is to get the BENQ because of the 2 ms.
but something tells me there are some stuff that I don't know.
Both 19" btw.

so I thought I ask you guys.

There's other things to look at, like max resolution, brightness, and contrast ratio.

The benq is more than likely better though.

Can't do that.
I just saw them at the mall.
All I know is that they are both 19" and the ViewSonic is 5ms and the BenQ is 2ms.

Well, you can also look at the contrast ratio, brightness in determining which one's better. As for the response time, ofcourse lower the better, but i have a 8ms one and i can't see ghosting.

viewsonics are great monitors. i really dont know anything about benq. 5ms is plenty fast enough, its faster than your eye can pick up.

Let's put it this way. Benq is a Kmart special. Benq is to monitors what Hyundai/Kia is to cars. Viewsonic will eat their circuits for breakfast and shit out the resistors. No comparison in quality at all I'm afraid... Not to mention that different companies use different methods to attain their specs. Don't be surprised if the Benq and Viewsonic are neck in neck for response.

The BenQ is surprisingly well respected for its performance, though. You raise the good point on 16ms response time on one (Dell, for instance) being the same as 5ms on another (Hanns-G, for instance).

I have been reading that Viewsonic has had several models taking a turn for more issues and problems lately.
