a big regret (SLI)

i bought a motherboard that isn't SLI compatible thinking "hey, i'd never use that!" .. i wish i had one now, though..

so if you think you're not going to use sli, get a compatible motherboard anyway..

Why? It's more expensive, has a much higher power requirement, causes more heat, etc etc... On top of that, you have to buy two identical cards, which won't be cheap!

I'm getting a new board soon enough and I'm still sticking with one PCIe. IMO, I don't like duel core or anything like that, so SLi is right up there with it...

Hehe

You can always sell off your old motherboard and get an SLI-ready one. Your motherboard would sell good I am sure. Are you planning to get a second 7800GT?

JAN :D

All is not lost you can mod your board to SLI :)

Just a simple removing northbridge fan conecting two bridges, and putting it back on. If you want you can buy a bridge off ebay but its not necasary. Just google the mod.

what's wrong with dual core?

ya know your board can be SLI ya know, it would take like 30 seconds to do. Take the northbridge HSF off and connect up two little connectors, then put the fan back on, done

hmmm ... thanks! :P

you say hmmm as if you are debating whether to do it or not, its more simple than changing a CD-Drive or pluggin in a mouse, it really is simple. google the board and you will see....

IMO it is a must for anyone with the standard board, do the mod and you get SATAII and SLi......

I want to get a crossfire motherboard eventually...
Apparently that isnt as good as SLi, a lot of bugs in it still and unstability under certain games/cards. Cant confirm though as i have neither SLi or Crossfire

I heard that hypothetically its better than SLI (once the bugs are worked out). You can mix and match the video cards, something about not needing game updates as you do with SLI, and i think that crossfire doubles the memory, unlike SLI that just mirrors it.

You did? Last i checked, the board you have
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
Is SLI capable

As if SLI and SATA3.0 offer anything Id want ;) (NF4U has SATA3.0 though)
