try to solve this one ;)

these are what i wanna buy:
  • ONE GPU EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP
  • ONE CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562Q6600
  • TWO RAM G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5S-2GBPQ
  • TWO HDD Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
and here's what i'd prefer:
  • i'm not a SLI-lover, so one PCI-Ex16 would be enough
  • i'm not sure about the north bridge, but i'd rather have the fastest possible, since the GPU is pretty cool
  • apparently i don't need any lame pre-embedded video cards
  • i don't really care about the sound, since i always use headphones, so the sound card could be embedded and weak
  • at least 6 USB ports, the best case is 8
  • a couple of SATA 3GB ports, RAID-0 compatible
  • ddr2 expansible up to 4gb at least, obviously
  • i don't really care about the price (no insanity thou lol), so it could be an expensive brand name
hope that's enough details to select the right one, u, computer gods!! ask me to elaborate if needed anyways.. thanks!

the case should come with 2-4 usb ports or there should be an extra pci usb inside the mobo box so you should get at least 8 usb total.

A Gigabyte 965P-DS3 would be a good choice, it can support quad cores and an FSB up to 1333Mhz ;)

this actually sounds like a perfect MB for me.. it's not expensive at all thou? where's the catch? because of no video card?

and explain me this:
in specifications it's said:
USB: 4 x USB 2.0
Onboard USB: 3 x USB 2.0 connectors support 4 ports

so the possible biggest number of usb ports is what? 4+3*4=16?? that's awesome!!

I don't know the differnce between the different versions, but I think that Rev 3.3 is the best. I think that rev 3.3 does support 1333FSB though, mine does.

Here's the DS3:

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...iew.aspx?ProductID=2456&ModelName=GA-965P-DS3

and here's the one I have, the S3, the difference between them is the DS3 has solid capacitors, but they're going to last longer than you have it any way.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...view.aspx?ProductID=2457&ModelName=GA-965P-S3

The rev 3.3's of each board support 1333FSB. ;)

that one looks like the perfect one to me.. tho i cant find it neither on new egg nor on ebay.. hmm

now what if i wanted all the same, but one difference? with DDR3 support instead of DDR2? what MoBo would that be? and is it really worth it?

i know there's no ddr3 available yet (or it's ridiculously expensive), but still.. just trying to figure it all out.

that's what i found BIOSTAR TP35D3-A7 Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

there's 0 reviews about it tho.. and it's pretty suspicious

and also check out the specs:

Memory Standard - DDR3 1333
Maximum Memory Supported - 8GB
Dual Channel Supported - Yes

and that's it..

althou all the other similiar MOBOs have in their specs a note that "The chipset officially supports the memory frequency up to DDR3 1066MHz". Only 1066!

does anyone have any thoughts about it? what is that ddr3 anyways?

ABIT IN9 32X-MAX WiFi, nForce-680i SLI, Socket-775,ATX,2xGbLAN,DDR2,2xPCI-Ex16 P.S I'm 11 so i'm still a child :p

I think the Biostar should be good; I've heard good things about them, especially as they have very low prices. The Abit is really way more than he needs.
