hello i am writing to you because of an issue i have with a new power supply 630w that i purchased after upgrading from a the stock psu. I removed the old psu and installed the new one without too many problems and minimal injuries. After which i plug the power supply in with the same power cord that i used with the other one.. its the same thing i figure but i experience all kind of problems all resulting in the computer just shuting of like 10 seconds into boot and my computer. So after checking all the connections and etc i look into the box and it has a power cord also but it is skinner then the normal one i was using. long story shortened it works with this and i haven't had an issue as far as shut offs or anything but when under stress the power cord gets soo hot u can almost smell the rubber and as i am typing this it is just hot. is this a issue with the cord the psu or the outlet. i am running 2 dvd drives a hard disk and an 8800 gts. thank you for your time. i have searched everywere on google but all queries are irrelevant and off topic.

The power cord should not be getting hot. You most likely have a bad power supply unit.
