A dumb question

Hey guys i need a wireless way to connect to the internet for my new computer. I have a router up stairs but i don't know what i should use to connect to it any recommendations? Thanks

its two floors up. its almost directly above me.

You'll need a pci wireless card that has external antenna's.

Something along the lines of this will work.

hey sorry to dig up this dead thread but i got the reccomended card but it doesnt seem to be fitting my motherboard/chassis. How do I know which one will fit?

Case: thermaltake MK-1

Motherboard: Asus sabertooth z77

Your motherboard doesn't have a pci slot, only pci express x1. Guess I should have asked what motherboard you had. This is what you would need.

what is the difference between a PCI slot and a PCI express x1 slot?

A pci slot is a long slot while a pci express x1 slot is really short. Here is a page showing you the difference.
