A few questions

Just found this forum and have been enjoying reading the posts.

I am thinking about building my own computer, with the help of my son, who built his own before he went into the Marines.

My uses will be for gaming, home studio type recording, and some video work.

My son prefers AMD CPUs, but I haven't decided between that or the Intel.
I was thinking along the line of a quad core build, if it's needed.

So for now, I guess I'm looking for opinions on what would be a good fit for my use, in both the CPU and Motherboard area.

Thanks in advance

I chose 1600Mhz memory and a 785 chipset. No comment on my build?
Not really any comments to be made(except i would switch to at least the elite 310 case) (also, just noting, the op stated they didnt need an os though;)) And that stranglehold's would be better for gaming due to the gpu.

And I questioned which OS they would be using,
and added it in the price anyway, because a lot
of perspective builders think they can use an old
OEM disc that came with their old computer.

I guess no comment from you is like a compliment.

True, would be easier if the OP would have stated what os they were using. I guess i could put my opinion this way:
If the op plans on using XP or an oem disc go with bodaggits.
If the op has a new copy of vista or the OS is a seperate "budget" go with stranglehold's.

(by the way, any criticism i give is meant to be constructive, and not to be taken personally(unless i call someone a blithering idiot, because then they deserve it) ;))

Thanks all for the input.

For the OS, I'll be using the Vista Home 64 bit. I received it as a gift from someone who thought the computer I had now would run it. :)

I'll be checking out all your suggestions.

Thanks again for taking the time to post.
