A fitting Video Card?

Hello

Let me first say that I have little to no knowledge on this matter.

So I need some help:

My computer: Packard Bell imedia S3810

Specs:
Prosessor: Intel Core i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz
RAM: 6,00 GB
Graphic / Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT320

So I figured out I needed to improve the quality I run my games (specifically: Rift) on.

I looked around a little and found out that everything seems at the very least (?) decent, except for my graphic / video card.

As stated before: I have no knowledge on this matter. So I went ahead (kinda dumb I guess) and bought a new video card; Radeon HD 6850.

When I opened my computer, I found out that the card is too big. It physically does not fit.

So I'm wondering what I can do?:
- Do I have to buy a new card, and if so: which cards are good and can fit in my computer?
- Can I simply buy a new computer case, take everything out of my old computer and put it in the new one with bigger space?

I've got a lot of questions, and no knowledge (as you can tell big-time :P).

Please help me?

ALSO: If I've posted this in the wrong place, PLEASE forgive me.

How much was that card and what is your budget? Were you able to return the card?

If so, they do make shorter video cards, you just gotta look around. What's the length of the video card?

And yes, you can just take everything out and put it in a bigger case, but you'll have to reconnect the power buttons and install everything in it.

What kind of power supply do you have? It sounds like you bought a manufacturer computer, right? Prebuilt? If so, I highly recommend you getting a new PSU, especially to run a powerful video card like that. The PSUs that come with the computer are usually really bad.

What is the wattage of the PSU,which you already have??
Also you can mod your case to fit in the card,or you can get a new case, modding will be difficult.

Thanks for the quick replies.

The card I bought (AMD Radeon HD 6850) cost: around 250 USD.
My budget: up till around 280-300 USD.

Length of the card: aprox. 21,5 cm

Power supply: I opened up the side of my comp, and the power supply box doesn't say anything. There's no writing on it. Do I have to take it out and check? Or is there another way. Meaning I don't know the wattage :/

Yes the comp is manifactured.

Also is "reconnecting the power buttons" and "installing everything" a complicated job? So much that I should get someone professional to do it, perhaps?

I would go with a nice 560.

Looks like they are still around 20cm, just a little shorter. You might just wanna buy a new case. For installing everything, it depends on how everything is set up. Usually the Mobo would come with instructions on how to connect the power buttons, so it may be pretty easy. I would just note where the power buttons were connected before, and see if the new case would connect it.

I would absolutely get a new power supply, especially if there's no labels on it.

First image is of my current comp. Pretty tiny and compact.
Second of my old one, that broke (psu broke), it's the one with the case I was wondering if I could just take everything out and put the stuff from my current one in.

If it helps at all.

Yup, you could just take everything out of the older one, and put the newest computer parts in there. That's an odd looking PSU in the first one and probably won't fit, so I would definitely get a new one.

Great one right here. I know it's another $60 but worth it because if your current one breaks, it could potentially mess up a lot of stuff and end up costing you more.

Alright, thank you so much for helping me btw... very much appreciated.

So will the PSU you linked go nicely with my Radeon HD 6850 graphic card, or should I try and return it and get another one?

I'm sorry for basically asking you everything, but I am 100% unfamiliar with this.
