A GPU Choice?!!

I have just ordered most of my computer
specs:
e6600
evga-680i sli
500g seagate
xp media
lexa case

and so I need a GPU....
I plan on playing dx9 games obviously as no dx10 games are out (at least ones that rely only on dx10) so I am searching for the right GPU.

I have been planning on getting 7900 GTO or a 7950 gt
both are in the price range of under $350 and I wish to eventually go SLI with the GPU. The GTO is apperrently faster, quieter, and cheaper. so has anyone had experience with the GTO to say that it would be a wise choise?
or is there an entirely different GPU you would reccomend.
I will be playing games like BF2,Supreme Commander,C & C, Counter Strike.....
I eventually plan to upgrade my current 21" crt to a 24" dell to play at high resoulutions:)

thankyou for any suggestions!

but arnt the 8800s DX10?
i wouldnt be able to play a lot of the games I want to then if I purchased.

well then.. i missunderstood.... so I can play all dx9 games on a dx10 card? if that is true than ill just buy ATI's new card when it arrives. but iam not so sure it is true....
what is what now!? I thought dx10 cards were only backwards compatible with certain games like FEAR...
?

Get a 7900GS/GT with 256MB or more. Those cards are good enough to play the lastest games. And there under 200 bucks so thats a good deal. XFX, EVGA, MSI, ASUS are the few good brands. I Have XFX Card. works great

with a 7900 gs would i be able to crank the settings to max on bf2?
what kind of games do you play?
tis true i would save $120 but is it worth that much power for the money?
i would be willing to pay for the extra i think.

DX10 cards are of course backwards compatible. You can play any DX9 or earlier game with an 8800. An 8800GTS is well within your budget, and would be a great choice. Have you considered a PSU yet?

in that case ill wait till next month (iam using a borrowed GPU for the time being not a very good one mind you) and buy a dx10 card with a new psu (i have a lil coolermaster 430 watt and since i payed only $40 i expect it not have enough power for a dx10 card.) so with the dx10 and dx9 is it only dx9 games that will not play dx10 games or is there another thing that limits compatibility?
thankyou for your help:)

saint, are you like 8 years old?, sorry to insult you if your not, but i really get the feeling that you are...
you should really try to find things out for yourself before you go post on a forum.

Only DX10 cards can take advantage of DX10 games. Most likely if you have a DX9 card, you can play DX9 games, but it will be in compatibility mode and wont allow you to have as good "eye candy".
