Can some kind soul PLEASE point me in the direction ( Online ) of somewhere ( UK based ) where i can purchase some RAM for my computer. I require 4 bits of ram ( on one stick ) it is DD2.

Any other info needed? Its just a regular pc..i imagine the average, most common type of ram. PCWorld pointed me in the direction but they only had ones with 2 on in stock..and besides PWworld is overpriced imho.

thanks

Have you looked at dabs or overclockers? And you mean 4GB on a stick, right? 4 bits is not a lot. Its less than a byte, and thus 1/32768 of a 4GB stick.

Thanks for the replies...

Im sensing - as usual! - things arnt cheap when it comes to my! pc.

DDR3 ...ddr2..why is ddr3 cheaper..much cheaper?? Can i use ddr3 in my pc?

Speed...im not sure..how do i check that?

And why is there no ddr2 4gb on 1 card? Looked everywhere?

What is the make and model of computer you have or model of motherboard if its a custom built pc?

Right...my ram speed is...

below... this info taken from Crucial..i did a quick scan.

Any the wiser on my speed?

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 8GB
Currently Installed Memory: 4GB
Total Memory Slots: 2
Available Memory Slots: 0

2GB

DDR PC2-6400

2GB

DDR PC2-6400

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-8500 with a maximum of 4GB per slot.*

Are you running a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system? If 32 bit, you can't add more ram cause the system won't see it.

it is 32bit but also 64bit....when i go online via explorer..i usually click the 64bit version...when on via AOL...gowd knows what im using...i see no difference.

However, video editing package DOES support 64bit ..hence i will be using that...hence i want 6gb installed.

I have two slots...2bg in each...aka..need to throw out one 2gb and install 4gb card.

£54 is the cheapest..whether its the right speed..i dont know?

Any ideas from the info ive given above?
thanks

It is one or the other.

Start Menu > Right click Computer (My Computer in XP and below) > Properties

It will say in there under system type whether it is 32 or 64 bit.

It is expensive because it is old technology. There is still some demand for it, from people like you, but far less of it is being manufactured, so supply and demand dictates, prices must go up
