A lot of waffle but please can someone advise?

Scouting around and looking in circles it seems. I really want to upgrade my PC, specs below, But im a complete novice..I want to do videoediting and am aware what I will need. I have looked up various stuff, so happy to give it all a shot..but i need to know..WHAT parts do i go for and from what site? Eg, Ebuyer seems to sell the goods but obviously will look into special offers at PCWorld etc.

I require:
-A new Powersupply 400+ ( so i can run a better graphics card )
-A new graphics card ( Looking at Geforce..around £90 gets 5 stars for HD editing )
-4 Bits of RAM ( I have 4 already, 2 slots of 2...so hence will need to throw out 2 bits and stick in a single 4bit in one of the slots.)
-Blurray burner

So.. I was looking at Powersupply ( EBUYER site for £35 )Corsair 430W V2 CX Series PSU ( 400w + )
- Graphics Card - PNYGTX 550 TI PCIe 2.0 Graphics Card - 1 GB ( PCWorld £90 )
Blurray burner - LITE-ONIHBS112-32 Internal SATA Blu-Ray Writer ( PCworld £90 ) ( Can i just stick this in? in the slot under my current dvd burner? )
RAM - I can't track down a 1 stick of DD2 RAM 4BIT?? Using, Crucial.com i scanned my computer to see what RAM im using.....this make any sense? DDR PC2-6400RAM - 4.00GBMemory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 (non-ECC)


MY SPECS ARE:

PROCESSOR: INTEL CORE (tm)2 quad cpu q8300 @2.50ghz
RAM - 4.00GBMemory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Graphcis: nvidia geforce gt240
Packard Bell, Ixtreme M3720
64 BIT OP SYSTEM.

Any help and advice very very welcome.
 
Do you really need a blu ray burner? It really cuts into your budget. Almost any DDR2 stick will work, if you want 4 gigs, I think based on the age of the pc, get 2 2 gb sticks. Almost any will work.The CX series whines, get a modxstream by ocz.
 
Thanks by2 for replying. Appologies again for the lengthy first post but Yes I do want a blu-ray burner. I want to edit my HD family movies...and to my mind if i am going to spend a month or more editing my projects i want to ensure i save/copy them on the best format available..quality wise. Hence Blu-ray.

Not that i want to throw money around - far from it - but from what ive read..Blu-ray is the way to go..for now at least.

As for RAM...i have 4bits already...but HD editing and making dvd covers etc which i enjoy doing ...the more RAM the better....I have two ports with 2bits in each..hence needing to 'sadly' discard one of the dd2's and replace with a 4bit...which..together with my other 2bit..will give me 6bit of ram.

So...advice please....

And..whats this about MODESCREAM?? whats that? My PC is noisy yes..and current graphic card fan really noisy.
 
ModXStream is a line of power supplies from OCZ. They're modular so you only use the cables you need (some like the 24-pin power cable are hard-wired though).

Thanks for bothering to reply of course - but I did spend a little time asking the question/s and ensuring I give all the info required...so I dont understand why this Mod-thingy has even been mentioned? Just going off at a tanget.

All i want is to be recommeneded a decent;
Bluray burner
1 stick of 4 dd2 ram.
Power supply ( 400 or more )
graphics card.

Exactly. The ModXStream is a PSU, so there's my recommendation.

Spirit, thank you for the replies..my appologies if i came over a little blunt. I appreciate your last reply with the links to that site. Which i have checked out.

As for Mod psu stream..basically..in a nutshell..will the one you recommend work..simple as that...AND that graphics card be good enough for HDVIDEO..i was looking at a GeForce for around £90 which has 5 'stars' for HDVideo..and essentially 1 or 2 steps up from my current one.

As for Blu-ray burners..Philips..really!! never been a fan of that make. The one ive looked up...is an LG one..LG BH10LS38.AUAR 10x ( for £70...10x only..that do the job you think? )

You seem to know your onions so value your brains on the above - and anyone else who can pitch in and suggest.

Im also debating aka pulling hair out over which printer to buy...again I just dont get all the differences..Tempted by;

EPSON Stylus SX535WD Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer

or - for £50 more - the EPSON Stylus Photo PX730WD Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer

I note that the more expensive Epson say its up to 40ppm ...whereas the cheaper one is up to 36ppm. IS that the deciding factor? Should i plum for the more expensive option?

Appreciate any replies particularly from owners of either of these machines. Keen to purchase - as you know yourselves..once you buy something your stuck with it for a few years at least ( save for a lotto win or a divorce in your favour! ).
 
I don't know much about printers but I know Epsons are pests. My Grandad has one, had to reformat his machine and printer drivers were a pain in the backside to install.

Yeah the PSU will work, yeah the 550 Ti will be enough.

The burner I recommended was a Pioneer. LG also make good drives, as do Samsung.
