a problem with sky broadband modem REAL PROBLEM

hi everyone. i moved in with my sister not to long ago, and a saw she had wireless internet. i have a belkin wireless desktop card in my pc but i am unable to connect.

i can see the modem from the utility and it asks for the passphrase. which is all entered correctly.

but all that seems to be happening is "aquaring network address" even if it connects it will surely disconnect soon after.

i used the BT wireless dongle from the other computers which all work on the internet fine but the same problem keeps happening,

in my other house i had a belkin wireless network, all i had to do was press connect enter my passphrase and that was it.

what is the problem and how can i fix or troubleshoot it

i have sky broadband at home, i dont like the netgear router they gave. so what i did is turn off the wireless on that router and attached an older belkin router (with a better wireless signal) as a wireless access point and used that instead.

imo, that would be the best soultion to your problem, but there could be others...

Update firmware?
change wireless pass key?
change all the wireless settings?

You should access your sisters router/WAP and configure your nework card to match her settings. Make sure that the security setting match as well.

I bet that will fix it. Let us know how it goes.

Problem fixed, i hard wired my PC to the modem and reinstalled all the bt software on all the computers including the laptop, then restarted them all, and it seems to work. but it was a headache to figure out.

at first i thought it was due to the modem not allowing any more than 3 computers at once but i wasn't
