A question about the motherboard and its compatibility

Okay, i have a crazy question! I have a AK12 Spacewalker Motherboard..its actaully my friends, hehe, anyway its only capatible with PC1600 or PC2100 RAM. But, i put a 512 stick of PC2700 RAM and it is still utilizing the RAM, how can that be? I dont understand why the board utilizes RAM it isnt compatible with...

well compatibilty isnt really what its about but more speeds

your motherboard jsut downclocks the RAM to PC2100 speeds to use it

Also, i am running into another problem. If i place the other RAM sticks in the computer with the 2700 the computer doesnt even go past the boot-up screen.

Its just running the 2700 at the 2100 speeds. Most ram is backward comp. when you put the other sticks in its probably just to incompatible with the other stick!

The board is suppost to read 1.5gbs of ram, so I say it shoud see the 512 as 512 instead of seeing it as a 128
