Cyrix was about as slow as they got. Any AMD Athlon should be faster because if that's as old as I think it is, no Athlons were released yet(still in the AMD k6 days...) Even the Celeron would beat the Cyrix!

I have an old plug up Pentium 3, it goes in like a PCI looking slot. That thing is slow as crap. That is another experimental PC, I have in my lab.

actually......the athlon was realeased about two months before the first p4. that was the end of the p3. in about 2000, the athlon was best. i know my history.:)

yes. athlon was top of the line stuff in its day, im still using an athlon 3400, which performs like a monster, i can play games and write dvd's with minimal lag interference. (the dvd writing priority is lowered tho)

The Athlon Thunderbird series was a killer processor! I had a 1.4Ghz. It got very hot, but man it would scream!

As for that "PCI looking slot", that's called Slot1. Some early athlons also used this slot(well, SlotA in the case of AMD) This was before they could fit the cache on the processor. Before the slot processors, I beleive most Cache was located on the motherboard.
