A Stupid But Important Question

Whilst watching "Call for Help" on the How To channel, they discussed something i have never heard of before.

Basically, Leo, the Host, described it as a website that opens up another website for you.

I.e if you wanted to go onto your gmail account, but can't because of server restrictions, you can open up the website, and open up gmail through it.

Is my understanding of this correct, and if so/not, where can i access these websites to have a look at them?

well i think that it would still block gmail if it blocks it in the first place. if what you are talking about is a website that automaticly redirects you to another opage, then ya, im pretty sure it would still be blocked, because it is still trying to be opened through the server that blocks it.

I went through that list of Proxy Servers, after some google research, but what i am after, is a way to access my gmail account, but none of those proxies "accepted" it. seeing as i can't access it on the network by going straight to mail.google.com or by installing google talk - can't install .exe files, can i use the gmail chat function and access my emails any other way?
