A tail of two Processors.

I bought the ASUS K52N with the AMD Turion II P540 back in December cost $430US, Yesterday I looked at the ASUS K52K with the Intel i3 M570 cost $529US.
My K52N has been quick and a positive performer. Anyone think I am missing something that the extra $99 bucks would have gained me?

Probably not. The i3 is a pretty low performer.

Thats what I was thinking, I know the AMD is really no better then the Intel in it's processor power. But their asking for more money for the Intel name.

I never bought the K52N for anything more then basic use, so it being $99 less then the new K52K is just fine.:)

yeah...pay for the name...99$ whew...

Not sure it's because of Intel's pricing or Best Buy taking advantage of the Intel name. I am thinking Intel knows the pricing of the AMD and surly would want to be close to it, so it must be a Best Buy pricing grab thing.;)

Although, as voyagerfan99 said, you will probably not notice much performance wise, the i3 is still better, it has 4 threads and accroding to this benchmark, and others as well it is significantly better,

Intel currently has superior archietecture compared to AMD and prety much most of the cpus it puts out in each market (examples like high end, mid range and so on) are the market leader, I do hope it changes when AMD releases bulldozer, also I'm not sure of this but the i3 may also have lower power consumption, hence better battery life.

Btw I am assuming you mean the i3 370m?

when I look at my device manager I see Intel i3 m570, when I bought the ASUS I also bought a H.P.52N so I can see if one is really better for my use then the other.;)

I was wrong yes it's M370 arrrrrrr!!! Thanks for the correction.

How i3 is low performer, are you kidding ?

Core i3 370M is much faster than Turion II P540

P540 score is 1494 in Passmark CPU Mark, while 370M score is 2240

Let me correct you, you should say "pay for the better CPU performance". i3 is simply faster than that Turion II

I guess being faster is important to some but when the laptop is just being used for net browsing and word processing speed of the processor is a mute issue.
As I posted my H.P. laptop has the Intel i3 and for what I do I don't see any difference in their basic performance's.:)

When you watch a few hd clips the same time and has a few program open in the back ground then you will see the different.

Trust me I shall let everyone know when this happens.;)
Right now I just have ten (10) programs open and am playing a HD Video in 60P with no problems. Processor show between 15&32% use and 1.93 of my 4GB memory used. Processor Temp.s core#0 47C core#1 47C

Guess I won't be sending it to the junk yard today.;-)
