A10-5800K APU not fitting on FM2A75 Pro4-M

Am I doing something wrong, it does not seem fit?
The APU is:
AMD A-Series A10 5800K Black Edition socket FM2 TDP 100W 3.8GHz×4 GPU HD7660D AD580KWOHJBOX
The motherboard is:
FM2A75 Pro4-M

Did I get the wrong APU for this motherboard?

Cheers Dave

Are you sure you are inserting the processor correctly? It will only go in one way. The processor and motherboard are compatible, both are fm2.

The socket in one corner, the pins are missing in a square, unlike the other three corners they are missing at a angle. Plus it has a little arrow in the corner. Just match the processor up. If it still doesnt fit you might have some bent pins.

Thanks guys.

I have built 4 of these just yesterday, but those 4 motherboards were all in the same packaging. The 5th one was in different packaging(same MB written on the box) but instead of having black memory slots two are white and two are blue. The board is identical from what I can see apart from the GPU slots and memory slots being a different color.

I will take another look at the APU tonight to see if the pins are bent. In case that they are, is the APU screwed or can I just carefully bend them back?

They are pretty easy to bend back. Usually it is just a slight amount. Be carefull if one is bent way over, they can break off.

Since you said they look slightly different, check the socket and see what socket type is listed on it.

Thanks guys, I checked the socket and they sent me a FM1 socket, so I sent it back. In the proccess of trying to get the AMD APU to fit I bent a few pins however. But luckily no serious damage.

Cheers Dave

Good thing you caught on but never force the CPU to fit in the socket. If they don't go in easy something's not right.

Yeah, normally they just drop in the socket.

Absolutely! What I could not figure out was why when I tilted the APU that the pins would go into the socket, but when I tried to put it in flat it would not. Then I saw those little plastic nobs were no matching up and that is when I took a real close look on the MB. And what annoys me is that the box had nothing on it that it was a FM1 socket.

When in doubt, read the manual ;)
