agreed... it'd probably be better in anything...
except that its socket 754, get a socket 939... its MUCH more upgradable and it supports dual channel memory.
The 3400 runs at 2.4GHz in skt 754 with the Newcastle core and 512MB cache (what I have) or at 2.2GHz with the Clawhammer core and 1MB cache.
In skt 939 it runs at 2.2GHz with 512MB of L2 cache
The 3200 runs at 2GHz with a 512MB cache(Newcastle) or 1024MB(clawhammer) L2 cache in skt 754. In skt 939, it runs at 2GHz and 512MB cache with the Venice, Winchester, or Newcastle cores (differing multipliers)
its generally up to you. most of the time amd rigs are cheaper to build. if you are going for gaming, go for amd. if you are going for multitasking go for intel. and since you are going for gaming, go AMD. i would personally not go with an X2, since most games are not supporting dual core yet. my personal choice would be the AMD Athlon 64 3400.
