Does anyone know where I might be able to check what future cpu's this particular mobo can support? I currently have amd 64 x2 dual core processor at 4600+ (supports 64 bit windows right?).
I bought this mobo and cpu 2+ years ago, and it's pretty fine for me, with 2 gig ram.
the case is a ninja case atx, can't remember the specific model, but it's silver.

I wanted to know if I should swap out this mobo in a couple of years to switch to quad core, or if it supports quad core at all (doubtful).
If I have to swap out, any one have good articles or info on decent mobo/cpu that will last 2-3 years?
Will I have to change cases or do current mobos still fit in atx towers?

Thanks!

Sure its not a A8R MVP. If so its a old 939 socket board. Will not run a Quad. You need a AM2+ or AM3 socket motherboard.

You say you might swap out in a couple of years. Two years is a long time for motherboards. I have no idea what board to tell you to get if its going to be a couple of years before you do it.

sorry you're right, it's an a8r-mvp. the 4 was right next to the 4.

anyways, only reason i ask is because i will be out of the country early next year for 2+ years. Hence I'm asking if I should swap out my mobo and cpu now, or wait til i come back and buy then...

probably wait until later right? i can't take my computer with me when i leave the country

In what way?

From a life standpoint, they will last alot longer than that, from a technological point, look at the C2D and C2Q boards, any LGA775 supporting them will run any program that you throw at it, and the first conroe processor was released 3 years ago and still goes strong

So your telling me that you would buy a board now. Put it up for two years, then use it. Not wait the two years and buy a new board then. Or you think its a good thing to pick a board out now for two years later.

Or did you even read the post?

Stranglehold would you recommend me wait to come back to the country to upgrade my computer then?

Heck would it be better to just buy a whole new computer? Or just upgrade cpu, ram, mobo.

Yeah, if your going to be gone for 2+ years and cant take it with you. It would be better to wait. You would have a better updated computer.
