A8V Deluxe

So I have the A8V Deluxe Mobo. For those who have one maybe you can help me out.

I just bought two SATA drives that I want to set up it RAID 1. The mobo comes with A Promise Controller, and a 'high performance IDE RAID controller integrated in the VIA VT8237 southbridge chipset'. whew. :P

At first I tried to set up the array with the Promise controller. Setup the array with the mobo utility, and then tried to install XP. No matter what I did in the BIOS or hardware config, XP would not see the array.

Then eventually tried the other controller. Set up the array, and installed windows with some playing around with configs.

My question is one controller better than the other. Are they the same thing, is one more efficient.

Thanks for the help.

1. To directly answer your final question: I have not noticed any difference between either controller block
2. When you say "setup the array with the mobo utility" do you mean that screen that appears during the boot process and says someting like "press <whatever> to enter RAID controller configuration" or (something to that effect)?
3. Regarding the XP installation not being able to see the RAID array, you'll need to press F6 during the installation startup phase (look at the status bar at the bottom and it'll tell you when to press F6) and provide it with the dos-level RAID drivers
