AA and AF

Can someone tell me the differences between the two and how much differences they're between having them on full blast and turned off? How much performance they rob from a system?

Well, from my experience I get more of a hit using FSAA (full screen antialiasing) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FSAA than I do using AF (Anisotropic filtering) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering

I think this is probably because it's more intensive on the GPU. My recommended settings are based on my 6800GT, which I run with 2x FSAA, and 8x AF. I get the best picture quality vs performance hit on this setting. It's probably best to experiment, using your favourite game. Or pick a game you have which has the highest recommended specifications. I run all my games in 1024x768 by the way. Also if you do a few google searches you may find other people who have tested with your particular graphics card... and you can try to mimic their settings. Hope this helped! :P
