Aaahhhhh!!!!! 8800gts 640mb Not Working Right!!!!

20-30? Its take me hours with all the stuff I have! Its not The OS itself! Maybe I need DX9 Le....
 
Help! ON most multilayer games I do something like press forward key and it does nothing. a few seconds later I move in that direction! Are you guy sure its not the power supply???

Check the cards frequencies while playing games, if they drop, then it's probably the PSU not putting out enough power.
 
what do you mean by frequency's? How do I check them? Even on Battlefield 2 single player it happens!)
 
like the core frequency and memory frequency. Programs like rivatuner should show it, though I'm not positive, as I use atitools for ati cards.

You bought beta hardware. Nvidia needs to produce better drivers. Your screwed till then.

Ya, pritty much how I had to word it for my friend who also wouldnt shut up for the three weeks before he purchased the card. "HA stupid kobaj, my card will blow yours out of the water, i pwn joo n00b". Whilst I rolled my eyes and laughed at how now I can play 40+ games and he cant even get one.

How in the world are XP driver Beta??? That's only Vista!!!! Frequencies are fine. Hell, I cant even get into most games!!!!!!!!!
 
you should have re-did windows yesterday morning like someone told you to. now you've lost a whole day and you're still at the same point and did nothing to help the situation. redo xp and let us know what happens....

There is nothing wrong with the 8800. They are not "beta" cards, and they are not "beta" drivers for XP. They are as stable as any 7900 card and drivers are.
 
OMG at the level of WRONG information in this thread, seriously do some homework before posting next time..

As 0MEGA has said, the 8800's are not "beta" cards and the drivers are fully released.

Also to INTELCRAZY, i actually laughed at your post. Seriously, jus.... no

Yes, all 8800's run fine in almost all DX versions, im pretty sure you could shove one in a windows 9x machine running DirectX 7 and it would be flawless, not sure why you would want to but you COULD. There is no physical aspect of the card or setting in the drivers stopping this.

ADE i think we've exhausted most options in here, time for a returns form on that card maybe?
 
:( I contacted tech support....I dont know if they replied yet. You really think this card is semi-DOA?
 
I would like to clarify myself, perhaps beta was the improper term with the wording. Its not as...usable, full proof, stable (take your pick?) as other cards, like as you said the 7900.

Perhaps Im not as detailed as you are wanting either, Im sure the 8800 series is reputable. But if you head on over to the nvidia forums there are constant threads created with the headline "my 8800 GTS 640MB is not working" (or similar.) Its unlikely that so many are hardware related error or user related errors.

By the way, dragon, Im going to have to have a chat with you sometime soon and how you, the infamous moderator, is actually braking the rules. :)
