abit ax8 guru clock

Hi, i just upgraded my parents pc with a abit ax8, a radeon x1650 pro and 1gb memory and an amd 64 3800+ 939.

I started the machine and on the led clock inside im getting a code saying 04, when i look in the manual there is no 04, nothing displays on the monitor.

Please help, thanks

The practical steps to see if that is referring to hardware problems is to rule out any missed or misplaced connections like those coming in from the front panel.

If you left off one or two plugs or crossed plugged them in that might a quick fix there. If you forgot the four wire 12v feed seen on boards from Socket 939 up the system will fail to start in most cases. The worst case is having received a bad board, cpu. memory. or video card. Other makes and model boards usually sound an alert there with a series of beep codes.
