"cookies" are merely text files created when you visit a web site. Those are controlled by the IE privacy settings not any antivirus program. Most choose the override cookie handling option and simply set the IE setting to clear history when closing the browser. This allows means retyping any online user names and passwords every time you log onto a site or online email account.

The typical adware/spyware remover always finds "data miners" or better know as tracking "cookies" or text files advertisers use to track your browsing habits. If you go to shopping sites as well as online vendors like newegg, TigerDirect, and others Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Spyware Terminator, and any number of others will come across the offline content you can clean out easily.

With Spybot S&D continuing to see the same thing you may want to run another remover to see what that finds. It may be simply misidentifying an htlm file included with a program you installed as a spyware. The links here are a few freeware programs that can usually spot anything not so good.

Spyware Terminator has an active protection process similar to a mild firewalll that prompts when anything tries to make any changes in the software environment and finds the data miners Ad-Aware missses while that's still a high rated program itself. http://www.spywareterminator.com/

For the free version of Ad-Aware 2007, http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Do you have antivirus, antirootkit, antimalware protection? Grisoft has an arsenal for the home user with the AVG programs found at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free

All of the above run on Vista as well as XP.

Nod32 is very good, but an antivirus isn't the whole picture. Antivirus programs aren't designed to combat adware or spyware. For that you need an antispyware program. PC Eye has already mentioned some great ones, but here are a few more:

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent malware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

SpywareGuard
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for real-time protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

With regards to cookies, it's important to recognise that they're not all bad - some serve a perfectly legitimate function, while some are designed to track your browsing behaviour. If you want to delete all the cookies from your system (this is safe) with Internet Explorer 7, click on Tools -> Delete Browsing History -> Delete cookies. That procedure is slightly different for other browsers.

Alternatively, any good antispyware program will remove the 'bad' cookies for you.

SpyBot S&D gets a better review far better then Spyware Blaster. One I justed out for removing trojans and other things is called BOClean by Comodo found at http://www.nsclean.com/boclean.html I'll be looking this over in both XP and Vista here.

Comodo's free firewall gets a good review along with the Jetico Personal Firewall for some additional protection. Besides the option to clear the history and offline content there are some good cleaners that will do all that like Evidence Nuker found at http://www.evidencenuker.com/

The latest comparison for that type of retail products is seen in the comparison chart at http://privacy-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

The one way to avoid seeing cookies altogether is by using either FireFox, Opera, or another browser where you will see a different type of browsing history. In IE you can also lower the number of days the pages of the sites visited while online are stored. Bit if you don't create a history and cookie files in the IE temp fodlers you would see nothing but a page not found screen whenever you hit the back button since nothing would saved in temp storage.

So basiclly what you saying is that if i turn history and cookies off i wont see them? i also do have firefox never used opera though and how do you do that to turn history and cookies off and also is it dangerous to have the cookiers or whatever they are that i posted on my previus post in my computer?

What was referred to there is how long information on web pages is stored in temp IE folders under your user name on the drive. The term "cookies" simply refers to text files that are also temporarily stored like your user name and password used to log on here for one. Weeding out any adwares/spywares would be the only concern.

Periodically you simply clear out your history and offline content or use a cleaning tool to remove anything you don't want easily that way. Text files are going to damage hardwares while viruses that come in other forms can and will shut you down fast as far as Windows is concerned.

So ok i'm going to use Firefox only not IE and i wont have problems right? and you told me a lot of antiviruses and anti-spyware programs what do you think is the BEST one from them? that's my last question on that topic i think.

You will still see very mush the exact same thing there with FF's own privacy and page storage settings only worded slightly diffferent for some settings. The term itself simply applies to text files.

The privacy settings controls what cookies are created for the most part. The default setting allows only the minimum regardless of the browser used. The choice of browser is strictly yours there. Many simply use FireFox and avoid IE altogether to avoid adwares, spywares, etc. there.

Here I use all of the ones posted earlier in combination on both XP and Vista alike. BOClean is the least noticed with no desktop shortcut created when installed. Each has their own main purpose with AVG for antivirus/trojan detection, ST provides a mild form of firewall, Ad-Aware takes care of browser hijackers, etc. etc.

FireFox will run on XP and Vista alike. But that also depends on the privacy settings for what cookies are seen overall. Mozilla uses a different file system there. Each of the programs posted earlier have their own purpose for the most part.

AVG is an antivirus program that catches other things while Spyware Terminator has a mild form of firewall included. Ad-Aware 2007 will catch browser hijackers and remove registry enties for those if found as well as the usual data miners. ST finds more of those however. IE 7 now out for both XP and Vista does block far more garbage then seen with IE 6.

FireFox will run on both XP and Vista alike. Just remember that the privacy settings determines what cookies are allowed from the start. If you elect to clear out pages stored then you will be manually typing in user names and passwords here and on any online email accounts you have for every visit.

The programs posted earlier each have their own purpose there. AVG is an antivirus program that cathes other things like trojan downloaders while Spyware Terminator will catch more data miners then Ad-Aware and includes a mild form of firewall. On the other hand Ad-Aware will catch browser hijackers and remove registry entries on top of various adwares there.

The Comodo BOClean is hidden form of malware protection that minimizes to the system tray and doesn't create any desktop shortcuts being tried out here at the moment. The smart move is to get familiar with various tools since sometimes you may need a specific type of removal tool when some program won't prevent something from slipping by.

EDIT: Something else is odd here when going to post. If I remove this post the previous post disappears along with it.:confused::confused:

It sounds more like you talking about data miners not cookies there. These are two different things for the most part. Those are text files advertizers use for tracking your browsing habits not the "cookies" used for login information saved locally on the drive.
