Part 1
Ok let me try to make a long story short. About a year ago my gaming computer hit the craper and I haven't used it since about a week ago (after buying a new of almost everything it was the PSU, the first thing I replaced but the replacement was also bad!). So I put everything in a new case and started it up. I spent about 2days trying to find out why right when I entered CS in OpenGL mode it'll shut right off! If I go into openGL mode in the smallest resolution 320x??? it would stay on for a few seconds.
I saying all this because I found out on here that my 9700 128mb isn't comparable with 8x AGP? Which this Mobo has, if it wasn't comparable at all would it even run for 1 sec?
Part 2
Well after reading on here that 9700 cards do not work on my nice new shiny mobo I switched to an other that has 4x AGP. I run CS in OpenGL 1024 x 768 and it runs for about 30 secs, then the whole computer SHUTS OFF! I try again right after and it last even shorter..
So after trying it a couple hundred times more I took out the heatsink and removed the hard sqaure on it and took out the old thermal goo. I put some new thermal goo on it (silver kind I used on my CPU). I made the mistake of putting it in the entire square outside of the GPU also lol geuss lack of sleep. So I run it and it lasts in CS now for about 3 min then SHUT OFFS!
I need help here guys, shouldn't the stock heatsink and fan be enough for a stock clocked 9700? Let just throw out some info:
-After it shuts off I have to d/c the power to the PSU and wait till the green LED on the mobo shuts off before it will turn on again.
-It is not the CPU overheating I have a program that records its temp and it works at a high % fine
-I've tryed putting 2 huge case fans on it still shuts off!
If I think of anything else I'll add it. If theres anything you know that can help me please share! Thanks alot!
