Absolutely Ridiculous Boot time.

Hello everyone!
Just wondering if any one could offer some advice.
I recently sent my computer to get fixed (After frying the Motherboard and CPU). I just got it back and it seems to be fine, although for one little problem. It takes me 4.5 minutes to get from pushing the on button, to the log-in screen.
Before I sent it away, I had a Pentium 4 processor, and an ASUS motherboard.
It's now back with a Pentium D processor and a Foxconn Motherboard.
The RAM is at 256mb (Terrible I know, but this is what it was before and I used to get a boot time of about 15-20seconds).
The computer is also now running on the motherboards 8mb internal Graphics as I haven't had time to install the 128mb Card which I removed before sending it to get fixed. (I'm not sure why, but the technician suggested this)
Would anyone know why I'm getting such a horrible boot time? Any suggestions would be welcome, and if further information is needed then please just let me know.

It almost sounds like the OS is corrupted in some way... The Pentium D processor is definitely a downgrade, but shouldn't be that bad. If you haven't done anything major with the compy since you got it back, try reinstalling Windows and see if that fixes it... The grapics card shouldn't matter unless the you have it in right now without any drivers. Make sure that you have all the hardware installed with the proper hardware because the slow load time could be Windows searching for suitable drivers for the hardware.
 
It could be because you dont have much ram and you have a much faster processor now. If your running XP i would upgrade your ram to at least 512 maybe to 1 gig.

But it could also be spyware or a virus that is causing the problem i would do a spyware scan and a virus scan just to make sure.

It also could be a program like zone alarm or mcaffee. I know on one of my computers mcaffee was giving me problesm and i uninstalled it and my boot time went back where it was supposed to be at.

I would use some of those suggestions and see if you can get the problem solved with them. If you cant post back here and we can help you out.

Actually CKfordy, My CPU isnt faster. Well I don't think so at least. It used to be a 2.8GHz Pentium 4, now its a 2.6GHz Pentium D. Is pentium D faster comparatively than Pentium 4?
