AC Adapter clonked out?

I had my Toshiba laptop plugged in with the AC Adapter, which had worked reliably for the past few years. I noticed that the screen was dimming, which indicated that the computer was drawing its juice from the battery instead of the AC charger. Sure enough, the computer shut itself down soon after than for "low battery".

I put another Toshiba charger on and the computer came to life again.

So, what happened to the other AC charger? Did it just die? Should I try anything before I put it into the recycle bin?

Probably just died on you. If old one doesn't work and this one does then yeah.

Playing with it a little more, before I toss it, I was able to make it work again. There may be something wrong with the cable between the AC outlet and the adapter. I flipped it around and pushed it in hard, it seemed to deliver the charge.
