Access Mom's Computer 500 Miles Away?

Hi, my mom barely knows how to launch a browser and frequently needs help.

What would be perfect is to be able to, (like Dell does) access her computer from my home and install software she needs, fix problems, etc...

I have tried things like realVNC but after about an hour of not getting very far I realized there is no way she was going to install it on her end.

Any help will be so over the top greatly appreciated by me and my mother. She'll bake you a brisket if you're ever in town :)

PS I'm running 7 basic on my end and she has Vista on desktop and 7 on laptop.

use a web based client remote desktop app like

www.logmein.com

Once she installs it you can email a request to control the computer and then add her PC to your account. I use it on my parent's computer all the time to avoid driving 20+ miles to their house.

Awesome, thank you so much for the quick reply. I'm there looking at it now. Will the free version do what needs to be done?

You can also use msn messenger if you voice chat with mom, on folks who don't I use crossloop.
TeamViewer has voice chat built-in so you can talk back and forth. Requires mic and speakers on both ends. If both ends have cameras you could video chat as well.
