accessing the BIOS

The user manual for the board or prebuild system will point to the specific key assigned for this. With the manufacturer's logo splash screen disabled in the bios setup you will most likely see that key displayed on the first post screen there as well.

Generally the DEL key pressed repeatedly following the single audio beep when powering most systems up while bring you right into that. Some will use a different key like F2 for this.

ok, so i got the computer for christmas, and it doesnt have a manual, and i never see any indication on the startup either. so, will i just have to test the keys then?

If there's some full screen logo when the computer first starts up, you can sometimes press TAB or ESC to go to the main POST screen. But perhaps the easiest is to simply try some buttons. Most computers are DEL, a few are F1, F2. I have seen a couple that use combinations, such as CTRL-S; I believe it was an old Dell that used that one...

haha, thanks. that worked

Once you are in the bios you usually find the option to disable the logo screen. The best thing without having seen a manual included with the system is to review that at the support site. You can usually save a copy to the drive as well.

What make and model is that? If you need help locating it at the manufacturer's site help is here..
