Accessing the Internet in Airports/Hotels

Anyone have an idea on why my Compaq 2100 will connect to the wireless at a Airport or Hotel, but wont allow me to access the internet. I am sure its the settings, but I have tried everything. And yes I even clicked on the boxes which say connect even though its an unsesure connection. I can connect to the wireless at home and the internet with no problem. I am sure there is someone who has gone through this. BTW, I am using a Netgear card. Thanks.

Some of these wireless sites require that you manually enter the ssid or password or both.

Odd thing is that my friend next to me has a dell and connected just fine. I did actually find the server and did check the box to connect even though it was an unsecure server.
