Accessing US sites? (from outside)

Hello. I would really like to access US video watching sites from outside the Us (I've heard that Hula is like impossible to get into though) I know I will need a proxy or something to mask my actual location in the world.

I want a non dodgy one (with no malware, adware, tracking cookies etc.). I flicked through other computer forums and people were very conflicted over what proxies were dodgy and not.

So this computer n00b needs some help finding a good proxy to watch video through (or another alternative). I'm in Aus if it helps. I use firefox to surf the web and run windows vista. I'd like to be able to watch video on abcfamily and stuff like that. Basically watching horrible TV shows lol.

Please help, I'm finding it a little confusing

Proxies are a waste of time unless you pay for the good ones. Most are to slow to download that much.

You would be better off getting a VPN server with a US based IP but they are not cheap depending on the speeds. I am shocked though that hulu blocks non-us traffic.

Money is money to me ^-^
