Accessing work computer from home

Hi,

I helped set up security camera's for my dad's work. Lately they have been glitching a little bit, and im too busy to get there to fix them. I'll eventually make it there, but is there a way I could set it up that I can access his whole computer at work from mine at home? Both places have ADSL internet.

Thanks

Would you need basic file access or complete remote access? (i.e. Would you want to just be able to browse, delete, add and download files or would you want to basically see their desktop on yours?). But there are many ways in which you could do so, I just need to know that before I recommend a program, as I use a program to access my workstations on my network (it basically displays the desktop from the workstation downstairs on my main computer upstairs, and allows me to use the machine downstairs from the one located up as if I was actually on it physically).

try logmein there is a free version and a pro version i use it because my father bought a pc he is 72 ,it is a life saver

Thats the application I use, VNC. Works just fine for me with accessing one computer downstairs from mine up. Opens a new window with the desktop nested in it from the machine downstairs.

please note that free versions of remote software do not create encrypted connections. Sure it works, but if anyone were sniffing out your packets they can capture things in plain text. Any sensitive data could be seen by others easily.

To, get around this I suggest using an application called putty (assuming you are in an all windows enviroment) and creating a ssh connection to the machine and then running the vnc through the secured ssh tunnel.
