Acer AL1916 sudden death?

This morning I was running two monitors in Dual Display Mode. An Acer AL1916 19" (the one in question) and a 22" widescreen. I unplugged something, not knowing what it was to, in order to plug my speakers in (admittedly this was not a great thing to do) and thus the 19" monitor went off. However, when I replugged the monitor into another socket all I got was a power light. I tried switching it off and on again but there was no Acer logo after switching it on, no on-screen display and no image whatsoever. I refreshed the settings of the dual display thinking it that may bring it back to life, but alas not. I tried using another powercord with it but things stayed the same. It appears to have completely forgot what to do apart from the power light.

I only bought this monitor in mid 2006, so it's not ancient. I can't believe that it has suddenly stopped working because I unplugged it without switching it off first. Of course I will be more careful in future, but is there anything I can do to get it back working? I don't think it was the original powercord that came with the monitor, as upon reorganising my room I think the original powercord got lost. It worked so I thought it was okay. If it's happened because of this then I can only warn people to make sure they use the official powercords with their monitors!

Thanks!

Mike

if you can't even get the options panel from your monitor, your screwed.

Well, I thought this too, but I noticed that with no signal my Acer 22" doesn't let me view the On-screen display either. However, it does show the Acer logo upon switching it on. This is something which the 19" no longer does. I'm just confused because the power light on it still works, so it's not like it's blown up or anything.

Thank you guys for all ur oppinions.
Now, i checked out the 8800GTS and it looks great. but now there is lotd. from msi, asus xfx.... which one is the best to go for? and y not go for a9xxx?
and then, is it worth getting a 1gb one?

Well, I'm shocked but after leaving the monitor overnight, I switched it on again to find that it's back to normal. I have no idea how this happened, but I'm glad it's working again!! :D
