Did you experience any issues when flashing the BIOS?
Yes it is the same as on a desktop, but obviously a little more fiddly!!
Sometimes the battery isn't on the motherboard it can be attached by a connector, just unplug it for min of 30secs with battery and power plug out. If this doesn't work then I would think that the BIOS flash went wrong and you may need to replace the BIOS chip.
They are fairly in expensive but can be difficult to remove & reattach. Its worth seeing how much a local PC repair company would charge to do it.
