Acer Aspire laptop randomly turns off

Hey guys! I'm hoping you can help me out, because I'm having some issues with my laptop, an Acer Aspire M5-481TG. A few stats before I start: it has an Intel i5-3317U processor, 4 GBs of RAM, and a 64-bit version of Windows 7.

Lately, it's been shutting down all the time for no reason. And I'm convinced it doesn't have to do with overheating. I've watched entire movies and played intensive games (Dragon Age 2, The Sims 3) without it shutting off due to excess heat. I can't find any pattern for when it shuts off - I can be on Facebook, MS Word, or iTunes, not doing anything particularly debilitating to the laptop's system, and it will suddenly go dead. It also has problems going to sleep - most of the time, if I close the computer and then try to get back on 10 minutes later, I have to reboot because it's shut itself off. (I haven't set it to shut off or anything when I close it - it's doing that on its own.) Over the past few days, these random shutoffs have gotten more and more frequent, and a few times I've been prompted to do a system restore. However, that hasn't fixed the issue. I'm not a particularly computer-savvy person, so maybe there's a glaring issue here that I'm not seeing. Anyone know what's up? I don't think it's a virus issue, because Malwarebytes says I'm clean.

I hope it's not particularly bad, because I'm studying abroad in Spain right now and am really hoping my laptop will pull through until the end of the semester!

Most likely a power issue. Bad motherboard to a bad battery causing it. Try removing the battery and just leave it plugged in to see if anything changes.
