Acer Aspire ONE tough SOB

Well I thought it was toast but it turns out the little Acer Aspire ONE is one tough little SOB. It just had a whole cup of tea spilt over it and after some drying and mopping up it still works. Few that was a tense few minutes.... lol

You most likely will have problems in a short while unless it has very good spill protection. The liquid will get down in the circuitry for the keyboard and will start not working correctly. But crossing fingers for you that nothing bad happens....

Let it dry 100%(at least a few days) before using it.

Water doesnt really damage anything unless its submerged for a long time, saltwater, or the device is left on while moisture on it.

Actually, if you drop some electronics in puddles or whatnot, alot of people recommend rinsing it with distilled water(distilled water is electrically nonconductive) and then letting it dry naturally.

I would recommend taking a few of the big panels on it off (not saying take EVERY component out) just to air it out, like previously stated.

Yet another vote towards airing it out. I'd also suggest removing the battery and perhaps pressing the power button (discharge it). As long as nothing shorts out, you should be fine.

you could try just replacing the keyboard. That shouldn't cost much. Check ebay for matching keyboard to that model.

As far as the keys that stopped working - I don't think there is any repairing you can do. They might come back and go again - or they might just stay dead forever. Also, other keys could start acting up as well.

I agree with all the comments here. Take out the battery, discharge the power button, take out the keyboard, open up the bottom cover, and let it air dry for a solid 3 days! People often get impatient and they want to turn everything on too soon. Just for future reference - if anything electronic gets liquids spilled on it, the best thing is to follow the above steps and be patient to let it dry out completely. After three days (some people say just 2 days), try powering it again.

Was there sugar in the tea?

It could just be a sticky button on the board.

You might try rinsing the whole thing with distilled water then letting it drip dry a few days as suggested above.

thanks for the tips ill have a good look at all of them. Unfortunatly though the computer was on when the tea was spilt on it so there was no discharging of the battery.
