Acer battery

frustrated

I bought my daughter a used Travelmate 230 for Christmas, but the battery
went flat just minutes after removing the AC adapter. Undeterred, i bought a
new battery. This one however, will not show any charge at all. If i hover the pointer over the symbol in the taskbar, it reads "0% charging", even after several hours. The batteries are identical to look at and i want to check that i am not doing anything wrong before returning the battery. Any thoughts?

Will do. I just wanted to make sure that i wasn't missing something really obvious before i sent it. Thanks for your input!

well travelmate 230's are very old machines (in computing terms), a lot of the older machines will tend to have some sort of failure related to the mainboard.
This is a classic case of where the charging circuitry on the mainboard has died and power isn't reaching the battery even though the computer thinks it is.
Sadly this will mean that the unit will have to have the mainboard replaced; this is a very expensive part and acer will also charge a fee for fitting it.
