acer boot up problem....new laptop time?

Just after any opinions on whether or not its worth messing around with this laptop anymore really.

Its an Acer 6530g 18 month old and a few weeks ago my son was playing on it when it just shut off instantly, each time I tried to turn it back on it shut off again after no longer than 30 seconds but sometimes after only 1 or 2 seconds.

The power supply light is constant green and it will stay on in recovery mode (after Fn+esc power on) which is leading me to believe its not a power supply issue (could be wrong though), Ive tried it with and without battery, with and without hard drive installed. Ive tried with half the Ram in at a time incase one was faulty. Ive disconnected the battery on the main board to reset the bios. Ive tried to boot up from the recovery discs and Ive stripped the whole thing down using the service guide incase it was a loose connection somewhere.

is there anything else worth trying? or should I resign myself to the fact ill have to sell for spares and buy a new one?

The only reason I haven't handed it in to a repair center is because of the waiting time (2 or 3 weeks minimum).

Thanks for any help, Dave.

Thanks for the reply.

It only had 12month warranty so its already out, is there anything else they would look at apart from the main board or a lot of expense?
