Acer LCD Question

I bought the Acer AL1916W widescreen monitor. I have a cheap prebuilt Emachines computer.

On the box, it shows that the native resolution is 1440*900.

This resolution is not listed under the display settings, though.

I have tried a few other resolutions that are somewhat close to the 16:10 ratio, but they come out looking weird (stretched out, pixelated, or shaky). I have a 1400 x 1050 setting, but it makes everything really small.

The only one that actually looks decent is 1024 x 768, but I'm still getting some pincushion type distortion (straight lines look bowed).

What are my options? I've read that LCDs are pretty much limited to the native resolution to get nice image quality.

Thanks for any help.

It's a Emachines T2385. The card is listed as a "Intel Extreme Graphics 3D video card". It's nothing great.

I'm putting together a computer currently and that's what the monitor was actually for, but I was just trying to get it to work with this one for now.

If it is a video card problem, then what should I look for when I purchase one for the new computer?

Nah...but the other resolutions obviously aren't correct since certain text is distorted. I've read user reviews and most people just set it up in the 1440 x 900, but I just want to find out how I can do that.

Thanks

Guys, he has an Emachines. He probably can't even put a new graphics card in it.

You cannot use the recommend resolution for the monitor because your video card does not support it. There is no way around that except to get a new one.

Which cheap PCI video card should I use for this Emachines comp? It will only be needed for the LCD to run at 1440x900. No gaming.
