Acrobat Reader

Hi Everyone

I hope I'm posting this in the correct section, it's a query about Acrobat Reader.
I have it installed on my desktop computer and its the free version, I'm sure I'm doing somethig wrong but I can't get an index to show up on the side of the main window.
It also used to show a page count which again I can no longer see.
It only thumbnails rather than wording, see attachment.

ie I have a car workshop manual which has 3000 plus pages and its a pain having scroll to get to the section I want, whereas I used to be able to click a title in the index on the side of the main window and would take directly to the page.
Is there some means of being able to turn that facility on and off?

My thanks to anyone who can help

The page count is now at the bottom right that I have outlined in red.

If you click on the bookmark icon top right that I have outlined in red you'll get the outline view.

However, if you open the file via your webrowser instead of adobe, you should see what you are used to seeing, at least I do anyway.

Hi John

Thank you for your prompt reply, I have to admit I’ve been use to seeing the page count at the top so I completely missed it, thank you for pointing it out to me.

As for the index I’m still not getting anything, you will see from the two pics how I’ve clicked the one icon and shows the thumbnails but when I click the other. there’s nothing.

Any further ideas on what I could try.

John how do I open the file via my webrowser instead of adobe, sorry if the question seems elementary to you but I'm going to put it down to my age :)

As you can see by my screenshots I can see them.

When you right click on the bookmark icon what options are checked? That is what I have, you may want to click where it says reset side panels.

Thank you for getting back to me John, I’ve just got around to having another look at what you’ve suggested.

If I click on the icon you said nothing is produced in the list, I’m thinking it may be a corrupt file because the strange thing is if I open another workshop manual for a different car it works.

Have a look at the 4 screenshots I’ve sent.
