Action/War Games

What are some good act/war gmes to play for beginners. I haven't played many games at all and being long in the tooth I need something that is rather easy to learn how to play 9and help train me) but want something decent as well, thanks.
 
Are you looking for First Person Shooters or Real Time Strategies?

FPS: Call of duty 4, Counterstrike Source, Battlefield 2

RTS: World in Conflict, Company of Heroes.
 
Also, if you're looking for RTS try out any game from the Command and Conquer line, excluding renegade since that's FPS. Just my 2 cents. These games are fun though, and I'm which ever game you pick, you'll have a lot of fun.

love your first two choices, WiC is amazing and CoD4 has great online play along with a very solid single player.
