active partition is compressed

Check your system reserved partition as well. If there isn't enough free space on the reserved partition to upgrade then it will error out.

You may need to go into disk management and assign a drive letter to the system reserved partition in order to view its contents.

voyager, ok. But how can I massign a letter to a partition that is not shown.
As I said, you need to go into Disk Management (Click Start, right click computer, choose Manage, and click Disk Management from the left pane).

Once you're there, right click the System Reserved partition and select "Change Drive Letter or Path" and assign it a letter.

If you don't see a System Reserved partition, then it doesn't exist, and that may likely be your issue.

To create one, follow these steps: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/119151-system-reserved-create-using-disk-management.html

If you're already on 10, just right click your start button and it's in that menu.

I understand. It is going to cost me $ 70.00 that I can afford now. Will try again when I am ready. Meanwhile, I will use my win10 without the update. You have been a good help, and I really appreciate your time helping me in that matter. Thank you very much.

I did try the links you sent me. They referred me to Image.exe. They chechecked my system, They say that iy would cost me about $ n70.00 to fix it. Now, answering to your question, my HD has 47gb free space.

Open disk management. press and hold the alt button while pressing the prtscr button. Then go into paint and press and hold ctrl key while pressing the v key. Save photo then click on upload a file button on your reply.
