Cost aside, what is the best CPU out now?

I'm guessing it might be the QX9650?

you are really good at guessing today :P
but yea it's pretty much unbeatable right now.

oooh i wouldnt mind one of them...

how much better are these? cos im toms hardware obviously they perform better. but not by that much.

why are they so expensive? cos of the unlocked multiplyer? how does that help? i dont understand it

yea your basicly paying $600 - 800 for a unlocked multiplier.
the unlocked multiplier helps in OCing.
cos u know the Speed MHz is dertermend by FSB x multiplier so if u can increase your multiplier resulting in more OC

yes i know that... but why not just increase the fsb more? how does the multiplyer make it easier? your cpu will still be working a whole lot harder...

it does not affect anything but the CPU no ram increase, no HT link increase for AMDs.
an i think the FSB to high becomes unstable then u start on the multy.
not sure thow

Higher FSB will create more northbridge heat, and you need a good motherboard to have high FSB overclocks, multipliers make it a lot easier to overclock, and sometimes gets you a higher OC

u could get it from its stock 3.2 to about 4.0-4.5

Not bad but i have all four of my cores OCd to 3.2 Ghz, so really im doin like 12.8Ghz, so yeah, take that, lol. I am completely not serious about that whatsoever <---that's one word!!

I think the QX9650 has gotten to around 5.6GHz, so with that I'd expect damn near 6GHz from the QX9775, but you'd need a lot of liquid nitrogen!

Well considering it starts to boil as soon as it leaves the container, very often, the boiling point for Nitrogen is -195 centigrade so you'll be doing a lot of topping up.
