Ad Hoc network help!!!

I have a sierra wireless USB internet card from AT@T. I connect it, and go create an Ad Hoc connection from my computer. I have win 7 64 bit pro. So then i go to my Ipod touch (iOS 4.1) and I find the network and i connect to it. after a few seconds, the WiFi signal bars pop up on the top of my Ipod's screen. Sucess, right? NO! I go into Safari and search cats or something in the search bar and it says "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet." WHAT??? I'm obviously connected, apple! stop being stupid!!! I try changing the DNS to 208.67.222.222, I renewed the license, I forgot the network, i did f-ing everything! help me out, computer forum! PLEASE!!!

I believe that ATT is blocking you from sharing your internet connection. The iPad is picking up the adhoc, but the sierra device is preventing traffic from going out of it.
