Adaptec Direct CD - Help

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm sure they'll be a lot of help to me.

I do have a somewhat specific question about Adaptec Direct CD.

I had "Windows ME" for the last few years and used "Adaptec Easy CD Creator" with "Direct CD" to make CD's with family pictures and other important information on them.

Now, I have updated my OS to "Windows XP" and XP says that there is a known conflict between my version of Adaptec and "Windows XP".

I have tried reading the CDs with disk drives at my technical shool and elsewhere. None of the drives can read my information.

I found a program called Isobuster, and it does find the file names of files I saved on the CDs, but it wont extract them. It says "cannot read from drive (D:).

I also tried a UDF reader from adaptec and it does nothing.

Anyone know of any ideas? I hate to loose all those pictures.

Thanks a lot!

Are these cd-r/w cd's or are they cd-r
cd- r/w cd's need packet writing software installed
are you trying to use the version of adaptecs from when you had ME ?
If so...you will need to upgrade or go to adaptecs web site and look for a patch, fix, upgrade or new version...

I would like to recommend Nero burning rom...10 times beter then Easy cd creator...here is the catch...i am not sure their packet writing software will work with your cd's. you may just want to get a second HD and install me onto it and install easy cd creator. Get your pictures back and never use cd-r/w cd's again...if that is what you are using....the last time i used cd-r/w cd's was when I had a 2x burner and cd-r media was $2 ea...now cd-r media is .30 cents or less.
