Adaware is not using standby memory? Or is something else wrong.

Right just started an adaware scan, 5,5 of my 8 gis memory is labelled standby by resource monitor with no free memory. I am getting over 2500 hard faults /sec from the adaware service.. why is it not using the the standby memory.

maybe the adware program might be lying to you to get you to buy it.
Try scanning with another program, what adware program are you using?

list what computer and what windows you have so someone will be able to help you better

Sounds like you are running a fake Malware program

Try Malwarebytes or Superantispyware and your resource monitor will have standby memory as it is standing by for when its needed i would be more concerned what the other 3gb arebeing used for if all you are doing is a malware scan ,

With regards hard faults do you no what they stand for ? or would you like an explanation

I'm using adaware by lavasoft, it used to be one of the main recommended ones. I found my computer slowing down badly, and my graphics driver crashed a few times, so I opened windows resource monitor on windows 7 64 bit ultimate to see the problem. 5.6 gig standby and 2.4 in use. none free.

I thought hard faults meant that the computer was out of memory so it decided to use the hardrive more, or something like that.

All i was doing was the scan, and had a few tabs open.

yes your on the right track

A hard fault (also known as a page fault) occurs when the page of the referenced address is no longer in physical memory and has been swapped out or is available from a backing file on disk. It is not an error. However, a high number of hard faults may explain the slow response time of an application if it must continually read data back from disk rather than from physical memory.

I would run memtest just to check the memory modules you have are running without errors

I managed to get memtest usb booted which was nice. Everything seems fine, thanks.

I guess asaware must have got a glitch in the latest update, hmm.

Get rid of adaware as its an old outdated program. Malwarebytes and Superantispyware are much better programs.

Uninstall that adware program completely, restart the computer and then take a look at the memory usage. Is it still too big?

S.T.A.R.S, I got 300 meg back which is good enough for me.

Ok. I wish I could find out for myself stuff like this. Everyone recommended it 5 years ago. is spybot also naff nowadays?
Thanks

Download and use Malwarebytes as your on demand scanner. But yes, spybot is old and outdated just like Adaware is. However, there have been instances where Spybot has removed keyloggers that Malwarebytes and Superantispyware won't. But keyloggers are very rare now.
